Why Half Marathon:
The event is being organised as part of the concluding day of the month-long observation of National Road Safety Month, 2024 w.e.f. 1st Jan to 31st Jan, 2025 by Transport Department, Govt. of Manipur Co-sponsored by State Bank of India to raise awareness on Road Safety measures in the State.
The theme for this year National Road Safety Month, 2025 is “Sadak Suraksha Jeevan Raksha” which means “Road Safety – Safety to Life”.
Through this event, we want to encourage and promote moral responsibility to all the people of the State to Drive with discipline and responsibly on the road, so that, the loss of lives and injuries arising out of road accidents can be reduced/minimised in the State.
Some of the major driving behaviours that causes road accidents are:
i. Over-Speeding
ii. Driving on Wrong side
iii. Drunken Driving/ Consumption of alcohol & drug
iv. Use of Mobile Phone while driving
v. Jumping Red Light
vi. Mechanical failure of vehicles
vii. Untrained or inexperienced drivers.
vii. Overloading of vehicles
